home

just a driveby to say that walter paul radford and i are home from the hospital and doing great.

i went in for my OB appointment on tuesday and was told to walk over to the hospital to be induced that evening because walter might be 9 pounds, and they, all of a sudden, "never allow GD moms to go past their due date", even though they had said the opposite the whole time leading up to this. anyway, they tried for a while but i developed severe preeclampsia and had to have a c section. it was not ideal, but it did not spoil all the fun. i will write the full birth story as soon as i can. right now i'm in survival mode trying to breastfeed and get enough sleep. thank god mr V is being a champ dad so far. plus, my blood pressure is still crazy high, so i also have to try to do the absolute minimum moving around. tough when i never really got done setting up the apartment.

oh, and walter ended up weighing only 6 pounds 11 ounces.

Welcome to the outside, wee Walter!

And, Tia, I'm glad to hear that you're doing well -- despite the blood pressure -- and a little less glad that your birth experience was less than ideal. A healthy baby and a whole you means a good outcome, though, and that is, of course, what counts. Still, bummer.

Much love.

Wow. I can't believe after all that "you're gonna have a hundred-pound baby" stuff that he was only 6 lb, 11 oz. So glad you posted -- and I hope to read more (and, yes, perhaps see you more). And that little stuffed...rabbit? you made is amazing. Walt (is that what you're calling him?) is One Lucky Baby. xoxo
